Backing a Second Kickstarter Project: The Cosmonaut

The second project I've decided to back on Kickstarter and the latest product from the guys at Studio Neat.

I like my iPhone 4 Glif (their previous runaway success). I like these guys. Like Kickstarter, iPads, fat pencils, and drawing. So this one's a no-brainer. 25 bucks for a chunky capacitive stylus sounds good to me, especially to support something designed and manufactured in the states; gotta support local innovation, peoples!

I'll post drawings here and over at my gallery site when it arrives. Mayhap this will be a digital replacement for my beloved martini pen!

750 Words Again

albatross badge from 750 words

Committed to April's One Month Challenge over at 750words.com. Love the site and the morning pages ritual, even though I ran off the rails last month (March 11, a day that will live in infamy) and broke my 116 day streak. But it was time –I'd been cutting corners the past few weeks and the daily morning pages had become marginal and not central to my routine. I need them to be there regularly for brain dump. Highly recommended for all. Addictive and free.

I Didn't Know How Empty...

The trip to NYC earlier this month with students was exhilarating, but I've been low since coming back.

We saw so many cool people, artists, and city life -everything was so ALIVE with people making things and doing exciting work –the kind of work I went to school to be a part of but don't do anymore! Trying to describe the feeling to a friend last week and this scene from John Boorman's Excalibur came to mind.

(Thank you, YouTube for having everything.)

I have an awesome gig here in SoBo, but need to bring some creativity back into my life so that at end of the days, weeks, and months, there's more than the emails I wrote and the ephemeral moments in class to look back on. I miss making art!

Kanceling Kelby Subskription

Frittering around on the Lynda website looking for Illustrator assistance when I saw this featured on the home page:

Welcome

View this entire course and more in the lynda.com Online Training Library®.

I like Matt Kloskowski's pieces on Layers and other Photoshoppery at Kelby Training, but man, how much Lynda has changed since I last relied on her! The supplemental graphics to help explain the concepts were all I needed to push me over.

Lynda, sorry I strayed, my dear!

B & W & O from Coco?

Or maybe the Black and White and Orange thing started with Coco?

B & W & O from Seth Godin?

More Black & White & Orange. Did this all start with Seth Godin's new book, Poke the Box?

Cocaine Appropriation!

Hah! Nice use of appropriation with .gif files!

I like the font for these too! (WTF tells me it's 'Niagara Engraved') More .gifs at this French site.
